Nothing apparent on the dash, no warning lights or anything. However there are two codes popping up that refuse to go away, see below. I cleared some historical low-voltage codes from VCDS (the car had a history of flat battery) and it all seems nice and happy with its new battery. I always presumed it was the battery controller. There is a black box on the boot floor just beside the battery, but I haven't had a close look to see what it is yet.
